Silk Road

In Autumn 2019 Kate visited Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.  She was particularly struck by the Shah-I-Zinda Mausoleum complex in Samarkand, where the light and shadow danced on the walls. The scale of these vast lands, their incredible landscapes, an extraordinary journey.

The generosity of people met, and homes visited where we were welcomed with open arms. They have so little, yet shared so much, those are the memories.

People of different religions and history living side by side, neighbours contributing to build strong communities as the countries adapt to independence, it will no doubt be a bumpy ride for many.
